Re: Disappearance of Detachment 593

It has now been one year since Detachment 593 landed at Macao on a mission to open normal diplomatic relations with the Mongol KhaKhanate. As per standard operating procedures, the absence of any further communications from that unit since that date requires the presumption that it has been lost in action. All personnel from Detachment 593 are declared Missing in Action as of 6 June 2046 and all next of kin are being notified of their change in status.

Due to the presumed failure of the mission, the Imperial General Staff/Foreign Office Joint Strategic Planning Board (IGSFOSPB) hereby requests and requires you to form another detachment from Team D and such volunteers as you may be able to recruit for service in China and Mongolia. The Foreign Office has already chosen an ambassador and several attaches to serve as negotiators with the Mongol Court. Your team should consist of one trusted, capable officer in command, an intelligence officer and assistant, a medic, and such guards as deemed practical by you. Your officer will have complete authority over all personnel, save the diplomats while those individuals are conducting diplomatic negotiations. It is expected that the commanding officer will consult with the ambassador and other team members as necessary.

In addition to the negotiations, your team will observe and record any useful intelligence they may acquire along the way.

The starting date for the mission will be decided by the team commander as soon as is reasonably practical.

I Have the Honor to Be:

T. Lyle Dickey, Lt. Colonel, I/2nd Guard Grenadiers
Special Operations Advisor, IGSFOSPB
