The Grandson of an Australian fisherman who had been stranded in Fiji at the start of the war in 1985, John-Patrick Seonie was saling his own boat by the age of eight, and the captain of his own boat by the age of twelve. Making a living as a gun runner and smuggler, normal occupations for Fiji, he was recruited by the Royal Navy for his expertise on the waters of the South Pacific and the Asian Coast.
