Captain James Harrison met the beautiful Olani Kato while a member of first Maui Fusiliers, and married her in 2009. He was killed in the battle of Kennewick, having never seen his infant daughter. Olani returned to the American mainland with her child and was killed during anti-Japanese riots in San Francisco in 2020. Jennifer’s maternal grandparents made the journey from their home in isolated Prince Rupert Province to claim the child from the convent, which cared for her after her mother’s death.
Harry grew up in a tiny community of six families. Her grandfather taught her to hunt with a bow and she grew up nearly running wild in the forests and bays of the province, supplementing her grandfather’s trap lines and grandmother’s garden with wild game and pelts. Public schooling was sporadic, she was mostly home taught by her grandmother (when she could get her inside)!
When her grandfather was killed by fever in 2029 (from wounds inflicted by a wolverine that was attacking his trapline), her grandmother realized that she would be unable to continue to care for them without the support from his income. They moved into the city. Harry joined the UKA Royal Army two days after her 18th birthday. She served in her father's regiment, the 1st Maui Fusiliers, where she met Hudson Campbell. They were partners and lovers, transferring together to Special Forces in 2042. Hudson Campbell was killed in action during the Orsini coup in 2045. Harry has had numerous disciplinary problems since that time, which have likely caused her promotion to lieutenant to be indefinitely postponed. She is currently serving as an intelligence specialist to Major Dunwoody, but volunteered to join this special mission.
