Appearence

Short, stocky, with pale blue eyes, and thinning sandy hair, Eddie Martinchick is not a physically imposing man. he is however, dynamic, and always impresses people with his energy when they meet him. He dresses extremely expensively, though social snobs criticise his sense of style as "backwoods new money", despite being a member of a long time Portland family, as he leans toward the overstated and gaudy.

Background

The oldest son and heir to the CEO position at the head of Martinchick Chemical Industries, the largest industrial congromerate in the UKA, Edddie as he is universally known, is the behind the scenes financier and advisor to the Christian party. As the head of the second wealthiest family in the UKA, Eddie has his fingers in nearly every business in the realm, as supplier, customer, or investor. He loves to exercise the power that his wealth gives him.

His father, Frankie Martinchick was a close crony of the pre-UKA ruler of Portland, William DeHaven, and Eddie married DeHaven's daughter Jennifer in 2025. Frankie seemed to take the collapse of the old order fairly well, and soon integrated himself into the new ruling class. The enhanced economic access created by the new government and its aggressive foreign policy quickly made Frankie Martinchick a fabulously wealthy man.

Evidence came to light, however, that brought some tarnish to Frankie's reputation that he may have been bank-rolling dissident groups, particularly renagade Christian militants and even the Free American Legion. An exhaustive investigation of his affairs after his death turned up noi evidence of wrongdoing.

Frankie was assassinated by three regular army soldiers in prison while being detained in Joliet shortly after its conquest. The motive for the killing is unknown, though an investigation cleared Vice Admiral Booker T. Lincoln of any complicity in the affair. The government officially supports the theory that the murder was a contract killing by business rivals. It is widely believed that the murder was ordered by King Patrick to eliminate a potential traitor.

Eddie refuses to speculate about his father's death, or even discuss it. He makes it very clear he is a loyal subject of his king. He is far from trusted by the government, who believe he is still carrying on his father's program of subersion.
