The Portland Aftermath Campaign Begins
April 15
Gary Olson Dimond is killed by a black bear in the ruins of what, in another place and time would be know as Liquidation Sales.
April 16
Rear Admiral R.E. Ffolkes arrives in Bayshore (Anchorage, Alaska) in a rowboat, claiming to be the sole survivor of a British circumnavigation expedition, and recruits Robert Allen, friend of the late Gary Olson Dimond and a young mercenary longbowman down on his luck, into the Royal Navy.
April 16
Admiral Ffolkes recruits two more for his new fleet: Frank Miller, an experienced sailor, and"Trooper," a mysterious loner, unable to speak, who made his living by salvaging and who always wore the rags of an old Alaska State Trooper uniform.
April 19
Ffolkes and his followers steal a Zodiac inflatable boat and a working outboard from a band of weirds.
Late April - Early June
Ffolkes and his crew beg, borrow, and salvage so they can acquire a ship and become privateers (i.e. pirates).
April 20
Ffolkes' band seriously annoys the Prevoites because they are poaching in the their territory (Ship Creek/Railroad yard/Government Hill/the military bases/Mountain View/Russian Jack Springs/College Gate/ and UAA). When Prevo's Baptists Templers try to stop them, Ffolkes' crew kill many of them.
May 4
Edward "Eggs" Benedict, a Colombian-born merchant adventurer joins the crew.
May 5
Dr. Ernst Stavros Blofeld, a Bayshore physician and psycho, joins the crew as fleet surgeon.
May 13
Merchant sailor Frank Taylor joins the crew.
June 9
Twenty people rescued from the Loopers form the bulk of the admiral's enlisted crew. Among them are Joanna Allen and Ozzie Huge.
July 10
Pope John XXIV is poisoned by a Hungarian priest in retaliation for the Imperial Bull.
June 11
Ffolkes purchases the Alaska I, essentially a long, open rowboat with a small ballista mounted in the bow, as the nucleus of the Royal Navy's North Pacific Squadron. A representative of the Russian Lord of Valdez hires Ffolkes to serve in Valdez's war against its rival, Cordova.
June 12
The Alaska I is unsuccessfully attacked by the Homer Guardboat.
June 15
The Alaska I arrives in Valdez. At an evening reception, the drunken son of the Lord of Valdez gropes Joanna Kowalski's breasts and is shot dead by Robert Allen. In the ensuing melee, the Valdez waterfront is burned down and Ffolkes and his crew escape. The incident goes down unofficially in history as the War of Joanna's Tits!
June 17
Ffolkes takes Whittier, not difficult, as it is uninhabited.
June 21
Robert Allen and Joanna Kowalski are married.
The semi-suicide semi-submersible U-1 is laid down in Whittier. The tiny vessel is constructed out of scrap lumber and old bicycle parts. It is manned by a crew of three: a captain/pilot, and two pedellers to power it.
July 26
The U-1 is towed by the Alaska I to Kachemak Bay and is sent in to attack the Homer Guardboat anchored in the Homer Small Boat Harbor. Acting Lieutenant Frank Taylor is in command. The vessel is pedaled by two native volunteers from Tatitlek. The craft strikes a rock on the way into harbor. The pedalers drown. Taylor escapes the sinking craft, only to be shot dead by a sentry while climbing onto the Homer breakwater.
July 29
A Sitka privateer, the Alexander Archipelago 20, captures an Imperial Japanese Navy Sloop, the Ioshima 16, off Kodiak. The Japanese crewmen boast of Japanese plans to conquer Alaska before the Sitka sailor cut their throats and dump them in the North Pacific.
August 2
A conclave elects Annebale Otteboni, Cardinal of Ferrara, Pope Clement XV.
August 6
The Alexander Archipelago stops at Whittier to sell some of its plunder and the captain tells Admiral Ffolkes of the Japanese boasts.
August 20
Ffolkes decides that the threat of the Japanese to North America is the most significant challenge to British royal authority since 1985. A council of war with his senior officers comes up with the idea of the Alaska League, an organization of sovereign states acting in concert to thwart the evil Orientals. Ffolkes summons all Alaskan leaders to a conference in Whittier to begin September 21.
August 21
The council of war, prompted by Ffolkes, decides to build a massive ironclad battleship in Whittier, to be named the H.M.S. Phoenix I.
August 23
Ffolkes trades the Alaska I and a large mound of scrap lumber for the Alaska II 16.
August 24
Construction begins on the Phoenix I dry-dock in Whittier.
September 3
Ever ambitious, Jerry Prevo orders his forces to occupy Eagle River. This provokes a response by the heavily armed Russian enclave in the Mat-Su Valley, who have been severely annoyed by Baptist raids. The massed force of Russians, backed up by a few surviving BMD armored personnel carriers, overruns the Prevoites in three days of fighting.
September 5
Armageddon for the Baptist Temple. Overcoming fanatical resistance, the Russians battle their way into the Baptist Temple and slay every person they find. Jerry Prevo is found cowering in a men's room. The Russians drag him out. Building a mighty pile of wooden pews, they slow roast the man alive, then eat him. After they finish, they tear the hated building down, level the site, and sow it with salt so nothing will ever grow there again. When they have finished, they return to the Mat-Su Valley. The surviving Prevoites join the Loopers or flee the Anchorage area via Bayshore.
September 9
Confident that there are now no other rivals for control over the Anchorage Bowl, True Pastor Grant Doyle of the Loopers attacks and overruns Bayshore. Bayshore is, unsuccessfully, helped by a few of Ffolkes' Royal Navy sailors. Ffolkes loses valuable property to the Loopers, and is absolutely furious.
September 10
Josh and Maureen Dolphin join Ffolkes in Whittier with their young sons, Patrick and Alexander.
September 13
Ffolkes, with Alaska II, cuts out and sails off with Bayshore's floating pier, isolating the Loopers off from the outside world.
September 20
The Loopers complete an improvised warship at Bayshore, built with the aid of every carpenter they can find, named The Hand of God. This so-called fighting vessel was cobbled together out of scrap lumber and old condo siding in a week by people who wouldn't know a ship if Dorothy dropped it on their heads. It's skillfully hand-crafted construction falls apart when it fires its first broadside. Almost the entire crew, though muddy, cold, and wet, manages to wade ashore. Watching the Alaska II sailing of his coast with impunity, True Prophet Doyle commands that a real warship be built to smite the evil Ffolkes. That very night, Charles Harbuck casts the first gun.
September 21
Delegates from many Alaskan communities vote the formation of the Alaska League, with Admiral Ffolkes being voted its first president and Commander-in-Chief. It consists of Whittier, Seward, Kenai, Hope, Soldotna, Cordova, Juneau, Ketchikan, Haines, Angoon, and Petersburg. Prince Rupert becomes an associated member. Sitka, Homer, Valdez, the Loopers, and Kodiak refuse to join. To quote the Duke of Kodiak, "We ain't afraid of no Japs!"
September 24
The Loopers attack Whittier via the Alaska Railroad Tunnel and nearly reach the H.M.S. Phoenix I construction site before being driven off.
September 27
Southeast Alaska provides some timber and a total of five hundred shipwrights and artisans to speed the construction of the H.M.S. Phoenix I. Among Juneau's contingent is Shawn Cromett, the representative of Cromett Heavy Industries, a sawmill and shipping company. He promptly reveals himself to Admiral Ffolkes as the Queen's Commissioner for the Eastern Territories and General-in-Chief of North America. Ffolkes appoints Cromett General of the League Ground Forces.
September 28
After casting the last gun for the new warship, Harbuck learns that Josh Dolphin is still alive and on the enemy side. He decides to cast a new, special gun with a secret, built-in flaw.
September 29
Imperial Japanese soldiers land on Kodiak. The small Kodiak ducal army is defeated on the beach.
September 30
October 1
Josh Dolphin sails to Sitka to acquire precut, seasoned timber for the H.M.S. Phoenix I.
October 7
The new Looper warship, The Sword of the Lord 24, is launched and sets forth to do battle with the Alaska II. A mighty vessel built of the better sort of condo siding, square like a barge, and armed with tiny 4 pounder guns, it is shot to pieces by the nimble and skillfully handled Alaska II. Most of the Looper crew drowns in Cook Inlet after the vessel falls apart in action.
October 13
Harbuck's special gun, a mammoth 20" Dhalgren design, is ready. The first shot misses the Alaska II, horrifying its crew. On the second shot, it explodes, wiping out its thirty-man crew and nearly killing True Pastor Doyle. Harbuck flees to Whittier with his wife Heidi and children to escape the Fundamentalists' wrath.
October 16
The first ships of an Alaska League squadron based out of Whittier arrive to guard the construction of the H.M.S. Phoenix I.
October 23
The Imperial Japanese forces complete the conquest of Kodiak.
October 25
The "Great Cleansing" begins. Pope Clement XV begins a thorough purge of non-Roman subjects serving as Roman Catholic senior clergy. Dozens of bishops and archbishops are sacked and the Roman authorities, on papal orders, imprison many priests. For the next four decades, the Church hierarchy ruthlessly crushes any anti-Roman dissent. Some Catholic states, notably Ireland, resist the new policy, but most of the Roman Catholic hierarchy is rabidly pro-Roman Empire by the end of 2006, at least outwardly, if not in their hearts.

2006

April 6
The Valdez ironclad Valdez is sunk by the League flotilla under Admiral Ffolkes. The crude, steam-powered vessel was constructed out of a sea-going barge. The League ships pummel it until it is dead in the water, then it is finished off by Lieutenant Lauren Loucks' 55 pounder hot shot gun on his H.M.S. Blackstone Bay.
April 15
Romans attack Rumania from Serbia and northern Macedonia. The Romans advance slowly and cautiously, one line of trenches at a time. The Rumanians, whose Communist government under Nicholas Ceausescu had maintained a secret stockpile of advanced pre-1985 weaponry, put up a spirited defense along the frontier, inflicting terrible casualties on the legionaries.
May 9-13
The Alaska League Army under Major General Shawn Cromett attacks Valdez, and manages to drive that town's army into a fortified hilltop near the town's waterfront. Using a very crude, rocket-assisted glider tipped with a black powder bomb, the League forces blast the Valdez troops into surrender. Valdez is razed to the ground and the survivors relocated in small groups to the towns of the League.
May 21
The Mat-Su Russians attack Anchorage. They ambush a party of League salvagers headed by Lieutenant Frank Miller. "Trooper" is bayoneted to death. The survivors hide out in Tim Lott's crawl space, where a teenaged Looper couple joins them. Opening a dialog with the two frightened teens, Miller persuades the two Loopers to bring his people to Pastor Doyle to persuade him to allow the League to help him battle the Russians.
May 22
The Looper defense lines quickly collapse under the Russian onslaught. True Pastor Doyle is killed fighting heroically to save his people. The League salvage team persuades the remaining Loopers, mainly women and children, to flee over Powerline Pass to the protection of the League. A blockading flotilla of League ships destroy several Russian BMDs at the cost of the bomb ketch H.M.S. Port Nellie Juan, commanded by Lieutenant Charles Harbuck, who blithely steps into his sole lifeboat as his ship capsizes. As Harbuck refuses to command any ship again, except from a lifeboat, he is permanently assigned to shore duty.
May 25
The Empire of Andhra signs a peace treaty with the Tamil Empire, gaining small slices of the borderlands between the two empires in return for a free hand for Tamils in Sri Lanka.
June 9
A Japanese battalion lands at Homer.
June 14
A Japanese regiment lands at Kenai.
June 16
The Japanese land an entire division in Anchorage
July 23
Over 10,000 Japanese soldiers attempt to cross over the mountain into Whittier. Numerous assaults are repulsed by the League garrison, with the Japanese losing nearly half their force.
August 8
The Battle of Blackstone Bay is fought between Ffolkes' enlarged Alaska League and allied squadron and a Japanese Squadron supported by a landing force. The naval battle is a tactical draw, but a strategic defeat for the Japanese, who decide to halt offensive operations against Alaska.
August 23
An army of allied biker gangs invades the Mormon nation of Deseret. They fight their way over the Wasatch Range and enter the valley of the Great Salt Lake, killing, burning and enslaving as they go.
August 28
A hastily assembled Mormon army is savagely crushed near Ogden. After the battle, the bikers split up into small bands. .
September 2
Mormon President and Prophet Orrin James McClelland assembles his scattered followers and defeats three of the largest marauding biker bands in succession. Laden with plunder and slaves the biker bands begin retreating to the East, satisfied with their success.
September 28
Mormon President and Prophet Orrin James McClelland has a revelation that every male Mormon must become an armed soldier of the faith. Mormon culture begins a period of militarization that will continue until its conquest by the UKA.

2007

March 25

The Loucks Expedition, the first official Royal Ranger mission, lands in Portland. April 23
A conclave elects Camillo Corsini, Cardinal of Bari, Pope John XXV. The new pope promises to uphold his predecessor’s policies in every detail. May 5

The Loucks Expedition reaches Jordan, Montana, where it locates a downed B-52 and a repairable Beechcraft 18. With the help of the locals, given in return for help against a local biker gang, the explorers get the Beechcraft flyable, load the tail Vulcan cannon from the B-52, and fly back to Portland. June 6
The Loucks Expedition attempts to leave Portland by air, but the Portland authorities destroy their aircraft and cargo in an attempt to acquire the Vulcan for themselves. The explorers are deported. June 12
The H.M.S. Phoenix I sails for Maui June 22-24

The H.M.S. Phoenix I arrives in Lincoln City. Allied troops begin to pour in over the next few days, building an army for the advance on Portland. September 26
Puget Sound League troops cross the Columbia River at Astoria to join with the Alaska League forces and allies in an attack on the Portland Republic. September 29
The Battle of Silver Springs is fought between the League Army and its allies and the Republic of Portland. The Portlander Army disintegrates and the city's ruling elite, headed by Colonel William DeHaven flee east to the Hanford Republic. September 30
The League Army makes its triumphal entry into Portland. The Republic is dissolved and becomes a sovereign crown colony with Admiral Ffolkes being elected governor for life by acclamation October 2
The Puget Sound League signs a military alliance with the Ffolkes' new state. October 4

The Corvallis War. The KKK leadership in Corvallis have been conducting border raids on Portland territory. Ffolkes sends General Cromett down to deal with them. Corvallis is quickly overrun and then annexed, adding the entire Willamette Valley to the British North American Colonies. December 19
The Lakota Nation launches a surprise attack in a howling blizzard against the Republic of Vermillion.
December 26
The Republic of Vermillion surrenders to the Lakota Nation. It is forced to become a tributary state, paying 20% off the top on all trade conducted with non-Lakota in that territory.

2008

April 7
Emperor Poovendan of the Tamils dies and is succeeded by his son, the Emperor Suruli.
May 28
The UKA ironclad H.M.S. Phoenix I sorties and destroys the Colombian Ironclad Corona del Sol in an epic fight off Cape Mendocino, California
July 2
The Rumanian army, tired of Nicholae Ceausescu’s uninspired leadership, mutinies and murders him. Marshal Codrescu, the senior Rumanian commander, agrees to join the Roman empire, as long as he and his troops are guaranteed a place in the Imperial Roman Army at the same rank as they held in Rumanian service.
July 18
Admiral Ffolkes is unanimously elected Prime Minister for Life of the British North American Colonies by the newly elected provincial parliament as its first official act, thus being henceforth known as Foundation Day.
September 25
The First Battle of Warm Springs is fought between the Provincial Army under Ffolkes and the Warm Springs Indian band. The army is ambushed by the Indians while watering their horses, and a mixture of poor discipline and poor regimental leadership nearly leads to a catastrophic defeat. Commander J.B. Dolphin, General Cromett's naval aide distinguishes himself. The army retreats back over the Cascades. Indian depredations continue.
November 25
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Prince Rupert is given jurisdiction throughout the entire British North American Colonies by the order of Admiral Ffolkes.

2009

May 11
The United States of Fort Ord, fearing the growing power of Portland, and goaded by Colombia, launches an invasion of Portland Territory using its remaining stock of pre-1985 weaponry.
May 18
A Fort Ord helicopter-borne assault force establishes a refueling LZ at Cottage Grove, NO. That night the Royal Army executing Marshal Cromett's daring plan to destroy it. A glider-borne attack landed within the LZ headed by Marshal Cromett's aide, Captain J.B. Dolphin and Major "Wheels" Logan of the Special Forces. Logan's team landed at the outskirts of the LZ and pinned down large numbers of enemy troops. Captain Dolphin's glider landed on the base command post. Dolphin secured the enemy commander and mortars, and completely disrupted the defense. About 30 minutes later, Marshal Cromett assaulted the perimeter with a dozen M-60 tanks, two battalions of Columbia II tanks, and the Guard Brigade. Losing only 1 M-60 tank, the Portlanders overran the LZ, capturing the entire enemy force. Captain Dolphin was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions.
May 22
The Battle of Reedsport is fought between Marshal Cromett and a sea-borne Fort Ord force. The Fort Orders try to cross the Umpqua River east of Reedsport in the face of the bulk of the Royal Army. The Fort Orders crossed the river despite heavy casualties on both sides. At the moment of crisis, Marshal Cromett, at the head of three regiments of Puget Sound League infantry armed with muzzleloaders, charges the M-16 armed Fort Orders from the front in heavy woods. The Marshal is severely wounded in the chest as he tries to rally his routing troops. At the same time, his aide, Captain J.B. Dolphin attacked the rear and flank of the enemy with two battalions of Puget Sound Marines and routed them back across the river. As the fugitives attempted to traverse the treacherous ford, the 5th Infantry Brigade, under Brigadier General Michael Krepel poured a devastating fire into their flank. Hundreds were killed or captured. A cavalry charge routed a battalion of Free American Legion Volunteers. Virtually the entire enemy force is destroyed. Marshal Cromett loses most of his left lung, but survives.
June 3
A Special Forces team is infiltrated into California City, the enemy's northern-most remaining base. They sabotage an enemy chemical weapons dump, which kills the bulk of the enemy personnel there and renders the area uninhabitable for years.
June 26
Fort Ord sues for peace, on the terms that they accept Portland's dominance in Oregon and northward.

2010

January 11
President and Prophet Orrin James McClelland of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints dies.
January 16
Bryan Kevin Wolford is elected President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. President and Prophet Bryan Kevin Wolford of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
May 16
Determined to repeat their success of five years earlier, a biker army invades the Mormon state of Deseret through Lolo Pass from Montana. Some of the bands come from as far away as Arkansas and Missouri.
May 20-23
The Mormon Army of Idaho stops the biker invasion in a battle at Idaho Falls. While not decisively beaten, the bikers split up into many small bands and plague Deseret for the rest of the summer.
June 15-16
The Assault on Sitka. Marshal Cromett storms across the bridge into Baranov Castle at the head of the Guards in the face of a 20" Dhalgren Smoothbore, and takes Sitka, earning himself the Victoria Cross.

2011

May 17
Brigadier General Randall Hough invades the Republic of Hanford on his own initiative with the 800 men of the 1st Maui Fusiliers.
June 1
The Battle of Kennewick ends in the destruction of the Hanford Army
June 2
Richland, Hanford's capital, falls and the Hanford state collapses
June 17
Prime Minister Admiral Ffolkes is assassinated by an M203 grenade fired at his car by Free American Legion stragglers.
June 18
Field Marshal Shawn Cromett reveals that he was named Ffolkes' heir in the admiral's will. This was a fabrication, as Ffolkes never made any provisions for a successor.
June 19
The Parliament graciously bestows the title of Prime Minister for Life on Marshal Cromett, perhaps influenced a little by the 2,000 bayonets of the Guards outside Parliament House.
August 3
Second Hungarian War begins with a Hungarian assault on the Roman-held Danube Plain. Irish and Swiss mercenary and regular forces support the Romans during the war. Although encountering heavy resistance, the Imperial, Irish and Swiss quickly overrun most of lowland Hungary within months but the Hungarian Army manages to hold out in the mountains as savage fighting would continue for more then a year.

2012

April-June
Police Major General Roger "the Butcher of Hanford" Purcell starves 1,500 political prisoners to death during a famine.
April 1
Prime Minister Cromett presides over the commencement of the digging of the foundation of the National Command Center, better known as the Bunker, in Portland.
April 15
Captain Duncan Keaton leaves Portland on the HMS Enterprise, attempting to circumnavigate the globe.
April 18
A small Roman army invades Bulgaria. The Bulgarians put up stiff résistance.
May 23
The Roman Legio XXIX Augusta Pia Fidelis is destroyed by the Bulgarians. Roman forces in Bulgaria begin fighting a delaying action against the advancing Bulgarians.
June 26-30
Cromett, deciding that the Foot Guards need bearskin caps like their British counterparts, ships all 2,000 guardsmen to the heavily bear-infested Montague Island, in Prince William Sound. Forming the guardsmen in a line clear across the island, they kill every bear upon the island. The Guard now has its caps! This event is long remembered as the Great Bear Hunt.
July 30
Roman forces, particularly the Alpine Legions, and Irish and Swiss troops well versed in mountain warfare, finally crush the Hungarian Army at the Battle of ?. However tensions arise as Irish soldiers become somewhat alienated at the appearance of Pope John XXV who personally gives the Roman allies a long, pompous speech on the divine rights of the Roman Empire to rule all mankind.
July 5
Three Guardsmen, returning from the Great Bear Hunt, rape the daughter of the mayor of Ketchikan and are arrested.
July 22
The three Guardsmen accused of rape are convicted and hanged in Portland. Angry at what they felt was excessive punishment for the perpetrators, the Guard mutinies. While quickly repressed, Vice Admiral J.B. Dolphin is severely wounded during the incident.
July 23
The Enterprise reaches the Philippines
July 30
Second Hungarian War ends with the rout of the Hungarian Army on the Marchfeld near Vienna. Duke Nicholas I of Hungary is captured and agrees to peace. He is forced to provide 6,000 soldiers per annum to the Romans, these men to serve for four-year terms.
August 11
The Romans, heavily reinforced from the Hungarian front, invade Bulgaria on a broad front.
September 17
Imperial Japanese troops trap the last Korean guerilla army against the ocean near Pusan. They massacre over 27,000 men women and children, leaving the Korean peninsula cowed, and sullen, and finally at peace.
October 27
The Romans exterminate the last organized Bulgarian resistance. Augustus is so infuriated with the Bulgarians he orders that a large percentage of the Bulgarian population either enslaved or deported. A dynamic guerilla leader named Yavor Khullar incites a revolt that will last over a decade.
November 20
The Enterprise rounds the Cape of Good Hope.
November 22, 2012
The H.M.S. Enterprise enters Port Elizabeth harbor in South Africa, opening the first diplomatic relations between the British North American Colonies and the South African government. Relations are strained by the obviously slave-based economy there.
December 18
The UKA frigate HMS Enterprise, under the command of Captain Duncan Keaton, reaches England, finding Swansea under siege.
December 19
UKA Royal Navy SEAL Commander Scott U. B. Abbott sinks the Irish Ironclad St. Patrick, breaking the blockade of Swansea. Abbott receives the Victoria Cross directly from King William IV. The king orders the Enterprise to return to North American and bring help.
December 23
The Tamil Empire and the Kingdom of Lanka sign a peace treaty that grants the Tamils a large swath of coastal Sri Lanka, confirming the gains made by the Tamils in the Great Ten Years' War.

2013

January 7
Mongol Armiess from the High Altai and newly created Caucasian Khanates invade Iran.
February 22
The Enterprise returns to Portland in triumph. Prime Minster Cromett orders an immediate refit. Duncan Keaton is promoted to commodore.
May 3 – May 7
Romans attack Russian-controlled northern Greece. Colonel General Oleg Arsentyev was the de facto ruler of the area, which had nominally remained under Soviet military occupation since 1985. After a short defense, Colonel General Arsentyev agreed to similar terms as those enjoyed by the Rumanians, with the Soviet military units being incorporated into the Imperial Roman Army wholesale. Colonel General Arsentyev is ennobled as Duke Oleg of Salonika.
May 23
Prime Minister Cromett invades Southern Oregon. Faced with the threat, Duke James Morris of Roseburg voluntarily joins the British North American Colonies as a Commonwealth state and speeds the UKA forces on their way through his lands. As a quid pro quo, Marshal Cromett accepts Duke James' son Gawaine as a brigadier general in the Royal Army.
June 5
Christopher Sorba is elected the third governor of the Puget Sound League.
June 9
The Battle of Ashland, between the Royal Army and the Biker Gang there is fought. Marshal Cromett is briefly captured and his eldest son, Major Alexander Cromett, is killed. All resistance to Portland in Southern Oregon collapses after this battle.
June 22
Irish forces invade Wales and England.
August 12
French mercenaries formerly in the pay of the Czar of the French revolt and over the next few days flee across the English Channel, landing in the Brighton area.
August 24 Irish warships attack the merchant shipping controlled by the renegade French mercenaries off Brighton, starting a three way war between the Irish, the English, and the French. The Czar of the French opens his ports to the Irish Navy.

2014

March 1
Irish forces capture and loot London and after storming the Royal Palace in Gloucester. King William IV is killed defending the palace, and the Irish Army captures Queen Diana and the Prince of Wales Richard. The British Parliament flees Gloucester for Falmouth in Cornwall after the House of Commons is destroyed by Irish troops.

2015

March 4
The HMS Enterprise and a steam transport commanded by Commodore Duncan Keaton sails for England the long way, across the Pacific. On board are Prime Minister Cromett (trying to get a break from his overbearing 2nd wife), Admiral J.B. Dolphin (just coming along for the ride), and I/1st Grenadier Guards.
May 11
The Enterprise reaches Australia and over the next week, enters into friendly diplomatic relations with many of the states there.
June 5
A Roman Army under Marshal of the East Duke Gregorio Montefiore crosses the Libyan frontier into Egypt.
July 30
The Enterprise reaches the Persian Gulf, Prime Minister Cromett befriends the Sultan of Oman.
August 8
The Enterprise reaches Somalia, where they befriend a colony of Soviet Navy castaways, including Alexei Borisov and also William Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough. They learn of an American enclave in Egypt.
August 9
The Roman IInd and XXVIth Legion reach El Alamein, only to find it heavily fortified by the Egyptian Army.
August 11
Battle of Qom. The combined Mongols Armies invading Iran crush the Iranian Revolutionary Army at Qom, causing a military collapse of the Iranian state. Most of the easily occupied parts of Iran are organized into the Eastern Marches of the High Altai Khanate. The Mongols spend the next twenty years trying to impose their rule on the rugged, remote parts of the territory.
August 16
The UKA personnel on H.M.S. Enterprise contact the Americans, who are an allied enclave on the edge of the main Islamic Egyptian state. They discover that the Roman Empire is in the process of invading Egypt.
August 20
A FB-111 acquired in Somalia drops a nuclear bomb on the Roman Fleet, sinking many vessels.
August 21
A Royal Navy team finds the Roman heavy cruiser Zama adrift and abandoned. It is taken into the Royal Navy.
August 25
A flotilla of ships arrives, with a mixed group of ex-NATO sailors and families who were serving, the Sultan of Adana, headed by Rear Admiral Parker Hawthorne, RN. These men provide much of the crew for the Zama.
September 3
At the invitation of Caesar Augustus II, Admiral Dolphin is sent as an ambassador to discuss a peaceful settlement of the war, on Roman terms of course. Dolphin's brazen insolence actually gives Caesar a heart attack as a result of his fury. Dolphin fights his way to the airport and barely escapes. For Augustus, the heart attack is fatal. He dies that evening and is succeeded by his son and heir, who takes the name Vittorio I.
September 5-11
A short civil war follows the unexpected death of Emperor Caesar Augustus II. Marshal of the West Benvenuto Canessa attempts to grab the throne from the new emperor Vittorio I and fails, with Canessa being shot by a firing squad on the morning of the 11th. During the confusion, the Zama escapes the Mediterranean with Prime Minister Cromett and Vice Admiral Dolphin on board.
September 12
The UKA Royal Navy’s new cruiser HMS Zama, commanded by Commodore Duncan Keaton arrives in England, only to find most it overrun by the Irish and French. King William is dead and his young son Richard and Queen Diana are prisoners of the Irish. With the Irish navy unable to deal with the powerful Zama, the Irish agree to negotiate with the UKA.
September 14
Admiral Dolphin earns the Victoria Cross for rescuing the queen and young king.
September 16
Prime Minister Cromett is killed at the head of his Guards at the Battle of Gloucester, which breaks the power of the French coalition.
September 17
Admiral Josh Dolphin is acknowledged to be prime minister by Queen Diana and Marshal Cromett's will.
September-October
Dolphin attempts to stabilize England
October 19-24
Ireland and England agree to make peace with the UKA acting as a mediator. The UKA, recognizing that Ireland would continue to pose a threat to England, offers to make peace and later agrees to limited trade between the UKA and England and the Irish. Scotland's independence is recognized and Wales is granted partial self rule, although it remains part of England and later as part of the UKA Commonwealth. With Ireland no longer a threat, the UKA stabilizes England driving out the French Empire within several weeks. While the UKA continues its attempts to enlist Ireland as an ally against Roman aggression the Irish, shrewdly taking advantage of its situation, continues to play the UKA off the Roman Empire during the next decade.
October 29
Prime Minister Dolphin sails for home, taking the queen and king with him. The Duke of Marlborough remains behind as prime minister of England.

2016

February 11
Prime Minister Dolphin arrives in Portland, where he is promptly confirmed in his office by Parliament.
February 21
Duncan Keaton is promoted to rear admiral.
March 2
Second Slovak-Hungarian War begins with an attack upon Slovakia in retaliation for the Slovakian monarch's rejection of the marriage settlement of 2004.
April 11
The Second Karnataka-Tamil War begins, with a Tamil invasion of Karnataka.
August 10
Irish Prime Minister Patrick McQuire is assassinated during a meeting with members of the British government.
August 29
Although it is now suspected the assassin of Irish Prime Minister Patrick McQuire may have been an Imperial Roman agent, whose intended target was King Daimon O'Neill, an outspoken critic of Roman control of the Vatican, Ireland launches a massive invasion from southern Scotland with the help of its Scots and isles allies.
November 24
An Irish-Scots under Irish Marshal Vincent Blackstock destroys the main English field army at the battle of Brecon in Wales.
December 12
The defeated English army and government flee to the Channel Islands.

2017

March 4
English attempts to regroup for an eventual counterattacks are defeated at the Battle of the Channel Islands. April 30
A Mongol army from occupied Iran invades the Arab Baghdad Caliphate. April 30
Field Marshal Michael Krepel leads an invasion of Central California by the UKA. May 23
Battle of Yuba City. Krepel defeats the Northern Fort Ord Field Force. June 2
Marshal Krepel's army captures Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa Nazi leadership flees to Colombia, leaving most of its army to be absorbed into the UKA Royal Army. June 6
Marshal Krepel's UKA Army of the South storms across the Golden Gate Bridge and conquers San Francisco. June 21
Invasion at Santa Cruz. The Royal Marines under Prime Minister Dolphin land and in the next several days, overrun the Fort Ord heartland. June 22
Chasing the British home fleet south the Royal Irish Navy eventually destroys the last of the British Navy off the coast of Angola. The civilian refugees, including government officials such as King Richard, Princess Diana, Prime Minister William Churchill, and the Duke of Marlborough, escape in small boats and eventually make their way to North America. Fort Ord formally unconditionally surrenders to the UKA and is annexed by it. July 7

The Second Karnataka-Tamil War ends indecisively.

2019

June 12
Second Slovak-Hungarian War ends with a Slovak defeat. The marriage between Lady Sophie and the King of Slovakia takes place. June 13-30
The Lakota Nation invades Eastern North Dakota in what is actually a giant raiding expedition. After smashing the South Dakota League's small army at Baltic, a few miles north of the ruins of Sioux City, the mounted Lakota raiders, who number almost 7,000 horsemen, smash all who try to resist. A swath almost fifty miles wide is burned through southeast South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota. The Lakota raiders sell, 5,350 captive in the slave markets of Vermillion. Despite the great success of the raid, which both weakens the small states of the area, and is extraordinarily profitable, a growing faction within the Lakotas are increasingly appalled at the mounting destruction and killing that accompanied the raid. July 18
Prime Minister Josh Dolphin is unanimously elected King Josh by Parliament as monarch of the UKA. Independence is declared from the UK. The independence movement is engineered in Parliament at the instigation of Roger "the Butcher" Purcell, at first against Prime Minister Dolphin's objections. Marshal Michael Krepel is elected Prime Minister at the new king's request. August 16

November 25
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Prince Rupert is given jurisdiction throughout the entire UKA by the order of King Josh.
