Admiral R.E. Ffolkes: The Man and the Myth

Admiral R.E. Ffolkes, circa 2011.

Who was Admiral R.E. Ffolkes

Admiral R.E. Ffolkes was, without a doubt, the pivotal figure in the creation of the political monolith now known as the United Kingdom of American. Yet, Ffolkes himself was assassinated even before the creation of the kingdom. He appeared at the Alaskan coastal community of Bayshore, sailing a small, open longboat, claiming to be on a mission from the crown of Great Britain, the sole survivor of a disaster that had cost the lives of all his companions. Yet, there is no trace of such a mission ever having been dispatched by King William V.

Ffolkes himself was an indifferent sailor, and quite eccentric in behavior. He was never close to any of his companions. He rarely talked about his background and when he did, he never told the same tale twice. His early follwers, attracted to the man's boundless energy and self-confidence, did not question his word that he was, indeed, an admiral of the English Royal Navy.

Even the man's full name is uncertain. Sometimes he claimed to be Ruthless Excalibur Ffolkes, and sometimes Rufus.

Ffolkes: the Man in Popular Culture

Ffolkes has gone down in history as "The Man Who Built the Phoenix." The capital letters always seem appropriate in that title somehow. Truly the construction of the Phoenix was the pivotal moment both in the myth that was Ffolkes, and in the development of what was to become the UKA. The ironclad gave Ffolkes both the moral stature and physical power to achieve his goals. What those goals were, however, are a bit murky. Phoenix itself, wasn't even originally the idea of the idea of the admiral, but rather, the brainchild of Admiral C.E. Harbuck, but once the decision to build the shipw as made, Ffolkes pushed it forward with the rulthlessness that matched his name.
