Flag of the Kingdom of Northern Italy
Founded in in 2042 after the collapse and conquest of the Roman Empire in Northern Italy, the government of the Kingdom of Northern Italy was given to Major General Erich Cromett, son of the late Prime Minister Cromett, by a decree of King Patrick. King Erich promulgated a series of edicts that were extremely unpopular with the Roman ruling class, such as the opening of careers in public service to classes based on merit and the abolition of slavery. Many of the more hide-bound and traditional Roman aristocrats fled to the remaining Roman terriroty in southern Italy after it became clear that the new king intended massive change the very structure of Roman society.

King Erich's government is an absolute monarchy. While he has announced that some sort of elected assembly would be instituted when the time was ripe, no progress has been made on this.
King Erich is the only child of the late Prime Minister Cromett and Deborah Dolphin_Sonnier, a cousin of King Patrick of the UKA.

As Class I Commonwealth forces, the armed forces of the kingdom closely adhere to those of the UKA. The great majority of the rank and file are either mercenaries or ex-slaves, as there is little interest in military service among the Northern Italian population.
