Appearance and Personality

Colonel looks like who he is: an ordinary "Good Old Boy" Southern businessman in a military uniform that just doesn't ever seem to fit quite right. He has short-cropped graying brown hair, a rather florid face, and an outgoing, expansive manner.

Larry's bluff, often rather simple mannerisms and twinkling blue eyes hide a shrewd mind, however, that has worked to his advantage many times with business rivals who are gulled into complacency only to find themselves later asking "How did I end up with this deal?"

Background

Larry was born into a properous Brunswick merchant family. His parents gave him as good an education as possible given the times and he quickly worked his way up to the number two position in the family grain shipping business. At the same time, he served as an officer in the local militia, which after the UKA conquest was incorporated wholesale into the UKA National Guard. Larry was one of the few field grade officers in his regiment to oppose the great East Coast National Guard mutiny of 2045, being incarcerated temporarily by his own troops. When the mutiny collapsed, Larry remained colonel of his regiment.

Colonel Funston has seen combat only twice, but showed at least adequate ability in both fights, and is a competent adminstrator.
