The Kennedy-Democratic Party is the fusion between the pre-2044 Democratic Party of the UKA and Democratic Party of the New England U.S.A. Dedicated, at least outwardly, to the restoration of the pre-1985 United States governmental system, the Kay Dees, as they are often known, are bitterly opposed to the U.K.A. monarchical system. The Democrats have never been in power, even though they are the largest party after the Constitutional-Monarchists. On several occasions, including 2042, large numbers of party leaders have been rounded up by the crown as subversives, acts which the Kay Dees claim, possibly rightly, make a mockery of any pretense to democratic institutions in the kingdom. On the other hand, the Kay Dees ARE subversive, though they claim, exclusively legally.
The Constitutional Monarchists claim that Kay Dees are nothing more than a front for continuing the oligarchy of the Kennedy Family that had ruled New England since 1985, a claim that also has good foundation.
The Kennedy-Democratic Party’s current platform issues include:
The Democratic Party of the UKA rose from surviving members of the original DeHaven oligarchy who did not flee with their overlords in 2007. By 2010, the Democrats had adopted the “restore the USA” platform plank that has given them their political legitimacy ever since. Unfortunately for their ambitions, that same plank has been a political millstone around their neck because, despite the nostalgia for the old USA, the ruling governments have been very successful in providing for the wealth and security of the public, or at least the voting public. Fear that the Democrats would lead the nation into another disaster like that of 1985 and eroding memories of life prior to 1985 conspired to reduce Democratic support over the years.
The Kennedy family, through their Democratic Party in the New England USA ruled the area from just after the war, when Ted Kennedy was elected President of the rump USA there until it was annexed as a Class II member by the UKA late in 2044. The Kennedy family’s President of the day, John FitzGerald Schwarzenegger negotiated an amnesty with the crown after a popular uprising against participation in the UKA Commonwealth. Taking advantage of that amnesty, Schwarzenegger offered to combine his powerful, England-based party with the increasingly moribund Democratic Party of the UKA. The revitalized party, promptly dubbed the Kay Dees by the press, has begun a strong opposition movement to the crown’s policies. Schwarzenegger was assassinated in the summer of 2046 and replaced by former Royal Army General Michael Moragon, a man with a personal grudge against King Josh.
