The eldest son of one of the original RAF fliers, Group Captain Lane has been intimately involved in the Royal Air Force all of his life. He graduated from the Moses Lake RAF Academy, second in the Class of 2031. Posted to No. 7 RAF squadron, he earned his way up the ranks by his technical excellence and leadership skills.
In 2032, he scored his first victories, two Roman Re100 torpedo bombers, flying a Snipe fighter out of Martinique.
In the Second Battle of the Azores in 2037, he destroyed a Roman Re2001 fighter with his trusty Cr32B. Later that year he shot down a Ro37 recon plane of the Spanish Roman Empire.
In 2039, No. 7 RAF being reequipped with Seahawk I fighters. he shout down six more aircraft belonging to the Portuguese Roman Empire, a Cr32B, 2 Ca311s, a Re100, a Re2001, and a Br20M.
Now an ace, he was given command of the newly formed Spanish Nationalist Air Force Squadron 1, He served with No. 1 SNAF through the War of 2042, shooting down another eleven aircraft, 1 Re2005, 2 Re2001, 1 Re2002, 1 Opus I, 3 Cr313, 2 Sm79 III, and 1 Ro37.
In recognition for his success and leadership skills, he was promoted to Group Captain on 1 December 2042 and given command of the 163rd Fighter Group, based in the San Francisco area, where he has remained until the present.
In his personal life, Lane has had a rougher time of it. In 2032 he married Sandra Ewing, a fellow RAF flyer. The relationship turned destructive over the years, with Sandra blaming Kenneth for the ruin of her career, and long string of moves around the world that she found tiresome. They divorced in 2041. In the summer of 2044, Lane met Amber Hettich, Member of Parliament for Napa County, California. Falling in love with her, he proposed marriage in April of 2046. The wedding was scheduled for 7 July 2046. Much to their disappointment, the ceremony has been postponed indefinitely due to Lane's transfer to the command of the China Expedition's air component.
Lane has the reputation of being a professional, hard charging officer, with excellent leadership and administrative skills. He is known to his subordinates as a winner.
