Current Temp: 88 deg F/31 deg C
Wind: 209 degrees true, speed 7 knots, Sea State 2 with seas to 2 feet, barometer falling.

 

Weather Conditions in Gulf of Aden and Western Indian Ocean.

Wind: 211 degrees true, speed 20 knots, Sea State 4 with seas to 6 feet, barometer falling.


Ceiling 2,000 meters, broken clouds with approximately 40% cloud cover.  Visibility approximately 100% except in rain showers. 

 

Forecast for today: Conditions worsening, with wind increasing 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms.  High Temperature: 103 deg F/39 deg C

Night of August 31/September 1

A minelayer of unidentified origin mined the approaches to the Durban, South Africa Harbor.  Two cargo vessels were sunk and a passenger liner was severely damaged according to the South African press.  All shipping is warned away from Durban Harbor until further notice.
